Some pages on the student website appear in pop up pages. A pop up page is a new
smaller page that opens in a new window when you click on a link. For example,
if you click on a link to a reading, or receive a message through the student
messaging system, these appear in pop up pages. Sometimes the internet browser
has been set so that pop up pages are blocked. This is to prevent annoying
advertisements appearing on some websites.
The internet browser is the program you use to access the internet. Most
people using a PC use either Internet Explorer or Firefox. People using a MAC
usually use Internet Explorer or Safari. If your browser has been set up to
prevent pop up pages, you will probably see a grey bar at the top of the screen
after you click on a link to a pop up page that tells you a pop up has been
blocked. In older browsers you may just find that when you click on a link
nothing happens.
First determine which internet browser you are using. To work out which
browser you normally use, look at the icon (small picture) on your computer that
you click on to open the internet. If the icon is a small blue "e" you are using
Internet Explorer. If the icon is a small globe with an orange picture on top of
it you are using Firefox.
